What's Your Biggest Obstacle to Attending Virtual AIHce EXP 2021?

Online conference at office 3 EY88 YB

The premier event for industrial hygiene (IH) and occupational and environmental health and safety (OEHS) science professionals is right around the corner. This year, with a fully virtual event, it's the perfect time to attend and check out why so many professionals return year after year. But we know you might have some reasons as to why you're not planning on attending. Fortunately, we have answers to the biggest obstacles you might be facing.

I don't really have the time.

Understandable; a lot is going on these days. But stop and think a moment - with a fully virtual conference, there's no need to carve out time to travel to a set location. And since you can attend sessions online, you can better set your work schedule around the sessions you don't want to miss.

And, with full registration, you'll also get OnDemand access through December 31, 2021. That way, if you do miss a session because of a family obligation, a work appointment, or a can't-miss meeting, you can catch the entire session at a time that's convenient to you. According to a benchmarking survey of online events conducted by Intrado, 45% of event registrants attend sessions live; of those who don't participate, 10% use the OnDemand feature.

I don't have the money.

So the full registration is a financial burden for you professionally, and that's okay. But don't let that stand in your way! Did you know we have one-day passes available? You can pick the day you wish to attend. You'll want to carve out that time though because one-day registrations don't offer the OnDemand option. But it's a great alternative to hear some quality research and information and add contact hours to your certification process.

Or, consider a half-day or one-day professional development course. These deep-dive sessions focus on a particular topic or skill with interactive and (virtual) hands-on discussions with attendees and the session leaders.

Finally, if a few of your colleagues are attending, see if your team can qualify for a group rate discount. This gives you the added benefit of attending with your coworkers at a lower rate that won't break your departmental budget.

I've heard these online conferences aren't very engaging.

True, some virtual events these days are perfunctory and bland. If you've ever attended a live AIHce EXP, though, you know that networking and engagement are a huge part of the experience. We've taken the last year to explore how to make Virtual EXP as close as possible to that experience for attendees.

Through a new virtual conference platform, you'll be able to explore and engage in multiple ways. A robust chat room in each session will remain open through the conference, so you can ask questions and talk with others who experience the session "live" or watch it later. See a peer or someone you met a few years ago and want to catch up? Send a direct message or even schedule a time to chat later. You can also do this with exhibitors and sponsors in the Exhibit Hall.

Have questions for the AIHA staff? The information desk and the AIHA booth areas will be staffed during the conference's main hours each day.

We'll also have a few networking events in place for casual conversations and catch-ups just like our on-site events. Plus, our virtual event has a "matchmaking" algorithm that will help you find peers with similar topic interests or job functions, sessions, and even products that might have appeal for you. To fully benefit from this, you'll need to fill out your event profile as much as possible.

The bottom line is, what you get out of the AIHce EXP Virtual Conference is what you put into it. We've got all the tools for you to find success this year from the comfort of your home or office. We hope you'll join us online!

It's not too late to register. Pick your option today.
