Why Attend AIHce EXP in 2022?

190520 112100 BO

For the first time since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, attendees at AIHce EXP 2022 will be able to participate in events held in-person in Nashville, Tennessee! AIHA is excited to welcome all professionals in the IH/OEHS field to one of the country’s most important centers of culture and education, officially nicknamed “Music City.”

However, the COVID-19 pandemic is still ongoing: for the safety of participants, exhibitors, staff, and partners, on-site attendees will be required to provide either proof of complete COVID-19 vaccination or proof of receiving a negative COVID-19 PCR test within three days of the conference. Attendees may also register at a discounted rate for the conference’s expansive virtual program if they prefer.

As in previous years, the heart of the 2022 conference will be its education sessions, hour-long presentations given by experts in IH/OEHS topics. This year, sessions will be held May 23–25 and cover both pandemic-related issues and a wide range of other subjects critical to protecting the health of workers and their communities. The variety of educational events at AIHce EXP gives you opportunities to keep up with developments in your professional area of expertise, introduce yourself to new issues arising in the changing global workplace, and learn about IH/OEHS topics outside your primary focus. While it’s necessary to maintain your job skill set, consider attending sessions on topics you know less about, which may provide context for issues you deal with daily or expose you to new solutions.

AIHce EXP 2022 is also a chance to prepare for CIH recertification. Through attending education sessions, conference participants can achieve up to 18 certification maintenance hours (with more pending) throughout the three-day period, with proof of participation required to receive credit.

If you miss a session, AIHce EXP OnDemand, a service that provides recordings of most AIHce EXP sessions, will become available in the weeks following the conference. OnDemand sessions come included with full registration and offer additional CM credits.

Professional development courses (PDCs), which occur in the days before and after the conference, afford even more learning opportunities. Most PDCs also teach IH/OEHS topics, but a few provide instruction on human skills (aka soft skills), such as leadership, communication, and conflict management, which may help you be a more effective IH/OEHS professional.

Many professionals have greatly missed in-person networking opportunities during the pandemic, and aside from education, AIHce EXP 2022 will also offer attendees a chance to connect with other IH/OEHS professionals. Meeting your peers may help you find job or research opportunities, increase your visibility in the profession, build confidence, and gather information about how your field works, such as what employers look for or what skills are essential in which focus areas.

Registration rates for the full conference are $899 for members and $1099 for nonmembers who register by March 20, 2022, or $999 and $1199 for those who register on or after March 21, 2022. Discounts are available for attendees who register for the virtual conference or who book housing in the official AIHce EXP housing block. Additionally, student, early-career professional, and emeritus members may also attend at reduced rates.

Finally, in 2022, AIHce EXP will go green by providing digital programs and signage, increased ticketless registrations, badges made from recycled materials, and more!
